Letters to Editor Make Big Impact in Schaumburg
August 11th, 2009 | by Brian Costin Published in Blog, Schaumburg Politics
Ever thought of writing a letter to the editor to the Daily Herald or any other newspaper? I highly recommend it.
A letter to the editor is a great way of having your views heard by elected officials and the voting public without having to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars in advertising.
Research shows that people who read letters to the editor turn out to vote in much greater numbers than virtually any other population group. In addition, letters to the editor are religiously read by elected officials and their staff. If you want them to know how you feel on the issues there is no more cost effective way of reaching thousands of local voters and elected officials than writing a letter to the editor.
Numerous letters to the editor published in the Daily Herald played a big part in causing Schaumburg’s Mayor & Village Trustees to reverse their decision and take down the red light cameras.
Now, the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition has created a web page which gives you all the resources and tips you need to write an effective letter to the editor and get it published.
