Schaumburg Pet Cemetery Proposal Comes Back

May 13th, 2009  |  by Brian Costin Published in Property Rights

Schaumburg pet cemetery proposal comes back, but doesn’t fit the Village of Schaumburg’s Master Plans. The Daily Herald article is here. I support property rights instead of gov’t master plans. #twill

Here are some of my thoughts that I have posted on a very active discussion board at the Daily Herald website.

Why don’t we respect property rights and allow the owner of the land to do with it what they wish? That would be the ethical thing to do.

I don’t own that land, therefore I should have no say in what the owner of the land does with it.

If people want a park or single family homes then put up the money to buy the property and you will be free to do with it what you want.

A major America city with virtually no zoning laws is Houston. It is the fastest growing big city in America. It is anticipated to pass up Chicago as the number 3 city in population in the next 10-20 years. Why is it that Chicago, with strict zoning laws, shrinking and Houston, with little zoning laws, growing rapidly?

In 2008, Houston was rated #1 (out of 358) as the best city by Kiplinger Magazine metropolitan areas in the U.S.

Forbes rated Houston #1 of best place to buy a home in 2008.

The growth and prosperity of Houston is proof that you don’t need overly strict zoning laws.

What do you think about the Pet Cemetery Proposal? Should the property owner be free to build his Pet Cemetery?
