Blog Buzz: New Schaumburg blog features Libertarian philosophy

November 26th, 2008  |  by Brian Costin Published in Blog, Media Hits  |  3 Comments

We got our first press mention today. The Pioneer Press picked up the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition’s website launch.

A new Web site and blog named the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition recently started and it says it will feature information about taxes, corporate welfare, eminent domain, transparency, public safety and more. To view the blog visit www.schaumburgfreedom.com. Costin supported Ron Paul during the leadup to the presidential primaries.

It was interesting to see them pick up the “Libertarian Philosophy” and “Ron Paul” themes in their post. Nothing on our site mentions the word Libertarian or Ron Paul until now. I guess they did their homework on me.

Just to be clear, the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition is open to people of all stripes. Republicans, democrats, independents, greens, libertarians and everyone else who doesn’t subscribe to a particular political label are all welcome to be apart of our organization. It is going to take all of our combined efforts to increase transparency, eliminate corporate welfare, prevent eminent domain abuse, and reverse Schaumburg’s claim to fame in having the 2nd highest sales in the nation.

Welcome aboard!

Update: We just got our first friendly blog hit as well. http://americanguesser.blogpeoria.com/

And their “blog” is organized like a news organization Website. And the reporting on freedom-related issues is top notch, including this piece that provides evidence against the benefits of stop-light cameras.

Kudos to Bill.

I can’t understand why the taxpayers in Schaumburg never question why elementary district #54 continues to raise taxes year after year while enrollment has steadily declined for at least a decade. The typical response from their business manager and board members is: We haven’t needed a referendum. Yet, each year they levy an increase to the maximum extent allowable by law. The district — with no costly high school expenses, spends more per pupil than many unit districts in this state. Yet, looking at the test scores, gets very little bang for the buck.
