Rally to Ban Red Light Cameras @ RedSpeed in Lombard, IL
September 21st, 2009 | by Brian Costin Published in Blog, Features, Public Safety | 6 Comments
Brian Costin, of the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition, will be speaking at a rally against red light cameras and sharing the story of how the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition was able to help defeat the most profitable safety program in existence in our hometown.
What: A Rally @ the US Headquarters of RedSpeed, one of the largest red light camera companies in the country, and former operator of Schaumburg’s red light camera program.
When: Tuesday, September 22, 7p.m.
Where: RedSpeed HQ, 400 Eisenhower Ln N, Lombard, IL (just off of Finley Road, north of Butterfield, IL-56).
Why: Number 1, to let our legislators in Springfield know that it’s time to ban red light cameras. Number 2, we’re sick and tired of our out-of-control government and we intend to take a little piece of it back. Number 3, we shouldn’t have to live in fear of “the flash.”

Foolish to vote no! It’s about time that ignorant and stupid drivers start getting tickets for blowing red lights, turning on red without stopping and crossing into the pedestrian cross walks! I’m at the point I’ll take matters into my owns hands if one of these morons hit me or cause a near accident!

A common mistake is to assume that red light cameras make our intersections safer. The overwhelming majority of comprehensive studies on the subject show that they make intersections more dangerous.
I urge you to look at the studies we have compiled at this site and see if it changes your opinion.
Secondarily, in Schaumburg approximately 98% of the tickets weren’t written for blowing red lights, they were for turning right on red. Department of Transportation statistics show that on average a driver would have to drive to Jupiter and back before experiencing an accident due to someone illegally turning right on red. Jupiter at its closest point is 370 million miles away from earth! To put that in perspective if you drove 100 miles a day, every day, for over 10,000 years you could expect to experience 1 accident from someone illegally turning right on red.
Certainly, you must agree that there is no justification for tickets on the overwhelming of Right Turn on Red occurrences.

I still believe in the cameras and feel the accidents are still caused by reckless drivers where the cameras are located! As far as for turning on red I have seen my share of accidents and investigated accidents that involved drivers that turn on red with out stopping! And for Schaumburg not writing tickets for drivers blowing red lights shame on them.Whats their reason???? I don’t believe the cameras increase safety or prevent accidents, but it’s time for ignorant careless drivers to get citations for blowing red lights, turning without stopping and crossing the pedestrian cross walk every day! Yes I highly believe turning on red you should get a citation! You don’t know how many times I have gotten the green light and as soon as I move forward some moron turns in front of me at a close distance! I’m at the point I will take justice into my own hands and teach this ignorant people a lesson!

Well then I guess it’s agree to disagree then. I don’t think Vigilante justice is the way to go. Vigilante justice certainly is criminal and is bound to get you locked up in prison.

Believe me i will not do anything criminal! I will not lay a hand on them! Psychological games work better!
