Larson Seen in Cracker Barrel Newsletter Picture Endorsing Indicted Degironemo’s Alpha Communications
SCHAUMBURG - Schaumburg Mayor Larson has repeatedly denied to local media outlets any connection with, or even meeting, the indicted William “Billy D” Degironemo, who is accused of fixing forklift contracts at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago.
“It sounds to me like this makes it look like I know this guy,” Larson said. “I never met the guy.” (Source: Daily Herald 3/13/2010)
Larson added he’s never met Degironemo. “I couldn’t pick him out in a crowd of three people,” Larson said of Degironemo. (Source: Schaumburg TribLocal 3/28/2010)
But newly revealed evidence shows that Mayor Larson has been misleading about his connections to the alleged mob affiliated figure.
After Mayor Larson received three campaign donations from Degironemo’s Alpha Communications in 2004, 2005, and 2006, the Village of Schaumburg gave Alpha Communications the Business of the Month Award for June 2007.

Schaumburg mayoral candidate Brian Costin said, “This photo and story in the Fall 2007 Cracker Barrel publication completely contradicts Mayor Larson’s previous statements about having never met the indicted William “Billy D” Degironemo.”
“It appears as if Mayor Al Larson is abusing his power by rewarding campaign contributors with public awards and taxpayer-financed publicity, then misleading the media and citizens of Schaumburg about his connections to those same campaign contributors.”
“This revelation raises serious questions about Mayor Larson’s integrity and the process in which businesses are selected for recognition in the taxpayer-financed Cracker Barrel publication. A policy review should be conducted regarding the selection process of the businesses to appear in the Cracker Barrel publication.”
Costin continues his call for a release of Schaumburg Convention Center (SCC) contracts and subcontracts past and present to determine if any of Degironemo’s companies are affiliated with the taxpayer-financed SCC. The Village of Schaumburg has not responded to a FOIA request filed on March 15th, 2010 for such contracts, despite laws mandating agencies comply or deny a request within 5 business days.
