October 13th, 2009 | by Brian Costin Published in Blog, Features, Transparency
On Wednesday, October 14, join the Illinois Policy Institute, as they host former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt for a lunch and talk about government transparency measures he implemented while in office. The Governor will provide insight into the importance of government transparency and explain how Illinois can learn from Missouri’s successes.
The event will also provide an opportunity for the Illinois Policy Institute to announce an exciting new transparency initiative. After lunch, we’ll provide a short training session about this effort. You’ll immediately expand your “good government” toolkit if you attend.
Date: Wednesday, October 14
Time: 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (registration begins at 11:30 a.m.; luncheon begins at 12:00 p.m.)
Training: 1:00 p.m.-1:45 p.m.

The Schaumburg Freedom Coalition has been leading the charge for transparency locally with the Schaumburg Transparency Project. The citizens of Schaumburg now have access to thousands of pages of documents that the Village board of Schaumburg has refused to place online.
All 6 members of the Schaumburg Village Board, and Mayor Al Larson, have rejected the idea of a FULLY open and transparent government, and have refused to sign the Transparency in Government pledge created by the Illinois Policy Institute and promoted by the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition.
